If you thought that a day in the life of a Lifestyle Communities homeowner looked entirely like fun, friendships and luxury living, you’d be pretty correct. But whilst these guys are serious about living the life that they have always deserved, they’re also pretty serious about fundraising to make the world a better place. Every year, homeowners across our 18 Lifestyle Communities raise funds for a range of charities and organisations who support cancer research or work to improve the lives of those living with the disease. The Lifestyle Communities Foundation, established in memory of the late Dael Perlov, founding partner of Lifestyle Communities, supports homeowners and staff who initiate those fundraising activities by matching dollar amounts raised.
We’ve just tallied the results of the 2018-2019 financial year fundraising drive and are proud to announce that the initiative continues to grow on previous years. Spanning 45 different fundraising activities across our communities and together with dollar matching from the Lifestyle Communities Foundation, we’ve raised over $180,000 over the past 12 months, a handsome increase on 2017-2018. Congratulations and thank you to homeowners, their friends and family, who supported cancer-based charities this past year.
Putting their “breast foot forward” more than 550 homeowners, friends and family representing 13 different Lifestyle Communities came together to take part in the 2019 Mother’s Day Classic in May 2019. The effort raised over $32,000, including a little over $16,000 in matched funds, to support breast cancer research and a wonderful day was had by the entire “pink army”.
If you’re wandering around Lifestyle Ocean Grove or Chelsea Heights, you may also notice a few homeowners sporting razor-clean hairdos. This was all part of World’s Greatest Shave fundraising events which raised over $20,000 to help those with blood cancers, such as Leukaemia and Lymphoma, live a better life.
More than $11,000 was raised to support the Cancer Council’s primary fundraiser, the Biggest Morning Tea with our Lyndarum, Officer, Shepparton, Ocean Grove and Lifestyle Hastings communities all raising significant funds, matched dollar for dollar by the Lifestyle Communities Foundation.
The Social Club and Homeowner committees at Lifestyle Hastings joined forces to schedule several events for “Lavender Month” in Sept 2018. Events included soup lunches, a high tea and dinner dance. One homeowner, Ethel Dickenson made a herculean effort, walking from her home at Lifestyle Hastings, all the way to the South Australian border!
The Woodworking Group and Trivia Group at Lifestyle Casey Fields raised $4,000 for the Monash Children’s Hospital Cancer Ward. The Woodworking Group put their skills to great use, making toys and selling them at local markets, while the Trivia Group held their annual Super Trivia Night having a great time whilst raising funds to go to this wonderful cause.
Other charities supported by the initiative included Movember, Ronald McDonald House, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and Melanoma Institute Australia. Once again, congratulations and thank you to all who participated in activities or donated to those who did. We look forward to even more success with the Lifestyle Communities Foundation in 2019-2020!
