We are taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave and would like you to join us!
The World’s Greatest Shave is one of the country’s biggest fundraising events designed to raise awareness and much needed money for those battling blood cancer.
The dates have been set, the clippers are charged and the time is fast approaching before a few of our amazing Lifestylers shave their heads to raise awareness and money in support of those battling blood cancer.
Money raised will give families facing blood cancer including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma the emotional and practical support they need and help fund vital research.
Introducing our all-stars
Esther (Community Manager at Lifestyle Chelsea Heights) has been promoting the cause for some time as it’s something very close to her heart. Hosting multiple morning tea fundraisers, organising raffles and much more all in honour of her father who sadly passed away from cancer.
Megan (Settlement Manager at Lifestyle Communities) and her beautiful mum (Marilyn) have been rallying support and will be teaming up together to take on the shavers. Megan’s motivation comes from her dad who has been living with leukaemia and while he’s not one to make a fuss, his selflessness and thought for others has been a source of inspiration to his family.
Vicki (Homeowner from Lifestyle Ocean Grove) is motivated to participate in this year’s World’s Greatest Shave because of her friend who is in remission for a blood cancer, and because of her own personal experience which saw her diagnosed brain tumour 8 years ago. She thought seeing her scar again after she has her head shaved will remind her how lucky she was.
Did you know?
- More than 12,000 Australians will develop leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma this year – or 35 people every day
- Blood cancer claims the lives of more Australians than breast cancer and melanoma
- The Leukaemia Foundation is the only Australia-wide charity dedicated to the care and cure of people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders
- Money raised from World’s Greatest Shave funds blood cancer research and free support through the Leukaemia Foundation
- Your support is vital.
Why are we getting involved?
At Lifestyle Communities, cancer-based charities are something we’re very passionate about supporting. In 2014, Dael Perlov, one of the founding partners of Lifestyle Communities, passed away from pancreatic cancer. In his honour, the Lifestyle Communities Foundation was established to support fundraising for cancer-based charities. As such, we’ll match every dollar raised by our team or Homeowners for cancer-based charities.
We’re touched to see the support and generosity from our amazing staff, Homeowners and all of their friends and families as they take on the clippers and play an important part in the bid to ‘‘Shave the World from Blood Cancer’.
